Disclaimer: I am not saying this browser sucks, I just want to point out some negative features that are most likely going to keep me from using it, for now. I might post a consecutive post with my features I do like

Direct Chrome Plugin:
First off, I am not a developer. I don’t know how programs are written, and the process it takes. But RockMelt was developed with Google Chrome as the backend. Now as a Chrome user, I have plenty of plugins and bookmarks all nicely organized.  To utilize all my Chrome plugins I already use, I need to go and reinstall all of them.  How much harder would it be to have RockMelt installed into an existing Google Chrome as a plugin? Also, it must be using an old version of Chrome because I can’t sync my bookmarks and info to my Google Chrome.

Only 2 Social Networks:
I understand that development is early for this, and new features will come out over time (which makes having it as a plugin much easier to update).  But something I see lacking is that Facebook and Twitter are the only social networks supported for posting to. I would love to see some features that would allow me to post to other social sites including, but not limited to:

• Posting to this blog (WordPress)
• Facebook page support
• Share to open FB chat
• Email (not social, but would be nice)
• Digg
• Posterous
  (Is it just me, or is it impossible to just update your status to your social networks? I can’t find a box to just type a new status for Facebook or Twitter.)(Okay, I figured out how to do this, you click the little picture on the top left.)

Also, I find it very annoying that if you are chatting with someone via Facebook chat in RockMelt, and also on Facebook.com, your chat opens twice.

Google Reader
I don’t know what you all use for your RSS readers, but I use Google Reader for my feeds. Now with RockMelt, they have RSS support built right in.  The reason I use GReader is that I am able to access my feeds anywhere, and they update that I read them.  If I read a few posts on my phone, then come back to my computer, and see that I have those same posts unread on RockMelt, that seems a bit redundant. I want to have everything synced for me.

Twitter Support
I am an avid Twitter user, and I really feel that features in their Twitter “app” do not offer many of the features that I would like to see and that my other Twitter apps offer.  Some of those features are:

• Conversation View
• Old RT feature
• Update profile
• Location Support
• User Profile View (you can’t even view a profile inside the app!)
• Twitter Search (You can only search the tweets of those you follow)
• Lists
  (I better stop here, but there are more)

Import
This might just be a bug, but RockMelt couldn’t even pull in my settings from Google Crome propperly.  My bookmarks bar and other bookmarks were all jacked up and I now have to go in and redo them all manually.

Overall
This browser could really be successful over the years, but they need to really figure out a few things. Anyone from RockMelt, I am more then happy to discuss with you these in detail if it could help with the overall application.  I really see that RockMelt could be a great browser (plugin) to the already amazing Google Chrome.

Review the information in your textbook about blogging. This blog has been created to discuss the pros and cons of blogging, what you see as its usefulness in a future business communication class, and what if any structure you think ought to be in place for blogging. Be certain to address the overriding question: Is blogging a viable tool for an academic classroom?

My Response:
A online blog can be a vital asset for any marketing and public relations department of any business. The blog is a great tool, to get in a more personal level with the customers, and share information about whats going on in the business, product changes, improvements, etc. A blog is also a great way for the leaders of the business to discuss about their area of service and how changes in that industry might be affecting them. By operating a blog, the business is able to engage their customers in a discussion about their product, and feedback on how it is working.
As my personal experience using a blog for marketing at Chetsy Photography in Kearney, we have seen much positive feedback from that. We don’t receive direct feedback from readers via comments, but we do hear that clients who come in enjoy reading little messages and the stories behind the images.
We normally post images and stories with the images, how it was shot, etc. Or we post about updates that are coming to the business, staff changes, service changes, and recently we have blogged about the addition of a Lincoln location.
Overall, a blog is a vital tool that almost any business should utilize. The positive results far outweigh the negative feedback and outcomes that could occur.
As for blogging in the classroom I feel that blogging in the classroom could be a great tool but I have yet to see it used correctly yet. Blogging can be a great way to continue class outside of the room and create discussion. I know many people can be shy and have a hard time speaking up in class, and by doing it offline, they can think of their response more, and may be more encouraged to leave a response.

First, the service, I thought, was amazing. They were quick on food, the waiter was very courteous and even though he was having a bad day, he still put a smile on and was willing to chat. He didn’t come to the table too much, but was there enough to make sure if we needed anything and get pops refilled.

For an appetizer I had the garlic cheese bread. I was very disappointed in this. The bread was still very soft and wasn’t toasted like I would have thought. It was basically not toasted at all. If they were to toast the bread it would be so much better! Now for the main course I had the fettucini alfredo. Overall I thought it was pretty good, but I felt that it may have been lacking a bit in overall flavor. It really could have used some more spice (Whatever is put in that dish normally) I felt it was somewhat bland.

The law prohibits the use of a handheld wireless communication device to read, manually type, or send a written communication while operating a vehicle that is moving.

This new law, is a second offense in the state of Nebraska in that the driver must be committing another crime, such as speeding to be pulled over and ticketed for this.  This is the same way that the seatbelt law is set up in Nebraska.

Now this new law is a long time coming, and even though I text while driving (not anymore), I wonder why some other things have not been deemed “illegal” while operating a motor vehicle.

• Eating while driving: This has always been interesting to me. How many of us have tried to scarf down a Big Mac or eat a bowl of Wendy’s chili while driving down the highway?  (Yes, I know someone who attempted and successfully ate a bowl of chili while driving.) I would find that this is just as much of a distraction while driving as it is to text.
• Reading print: It is scary how many times I have driven down I-80 while watching someone read a magazine or newspaper while driving their car at 80mpg.  I know that this is more dangerous and distracting as compared to texting.
• Age: This is a touchy subject for many. I know that it can be difficult to hand over your drivers license after going through so much in your life. Now, I’m 20, and some day, I will be the age that I find so many people are that are causing more problems on the road, then those that are texting.  Just the other day I witnessed an older lady squeeze her way into a parking lot and damage a van next to her.
• Changing clothing: << Enough said.
• Phone Calls: First off, I know there have been advancements in technology that allow for safer phone calls while driving, but so many have not adapted these techniques and pay more attention to who they are talking to and what they are saying, rather then the road they are driving on.

I am sure there are plenty more activities that drivers are doing while driving that I could list, but I hope I made my point. I agree with the new texting law, but aren’t there other things we should be looking at also?
