Today, Twitter launched a new feature to the “tweet” world called Verified Accounts. This will allow all Twitterers to know if an account is actually what it says it is. They are starting this out with “well-known artists, athletes, actors, public officials, and public agencies” (Twitter). This is still in beta, (just like the entire website should be, but we aren’t going to go there today), so they are just in testing stages now with those “celebrities.” Do you want to get your account verified? Well most likely, for now, you won’t be getting the badge on your twitter page. This might change in the future, but for now Twitter plans to only “verify” those accounts that deal with impostor accounts. Will this change in the future? If it does, I don’t think it will for a long time, and honestly, I don’t think it really should. Because we will end up with so many verified accounts that we will have a hard time then believing which is actually a verified account or not. So what do you think of these new accounts? Will they be beneficial to Twitter? Let me know and drop a comment down below! I would love to hear what you think! And if you would like to read more about this, go here to Twitter’s page about the new feature.
